Metaphors of Universal Consciousness

My initial encounter with, and walking of, a labyrinth (June, 1995) was integral to a thoroughly transforming, life-altering experience which eventually led (among other things) to my participation in the founding of The Labyrinth Society and becoming its first Executive Director.

The residual effects in terms of personal awareness and ‘appreciation’ are deeply internal, and challenge the constraints of verbal expression. Suffice to say that I ‘see’ the labyrinth as a metaphor of universal consciousness, or, as Rene Guenon wrote, “a symbol of the cosmos,” as an idea of philosophical mysticism
