May Day’s Dance

TLS 365 Experience #62
May 1, 2017

The Dance of the Maypole traditionally celebrates this May Day as a passage into Spring in northern countries. Where its origins come from Germany and Pagan festivals of fertility, from a modern perspective, the MayPole is a light hearted invitation that brings people together in remembrance, ritual and celebration.

It is a lighter and livelier way to appreciate the labyrinth as well. A pole in the center can offer its attached ribbons to those walking a lighter dance like step and interesting weaving and integration of people.

This labyrinth designed for the 2010 Annual Gathering offered a lively presentation of footstep and frolic in the demonstration of the Maypole, using the simple available resources of pumpkins.
