Observations of Childhood

TLS 365 Experience #99
June 7, 2017

Every time I take a class of students out onto the labyrinth, something magical occurs.
I share the experience with adults often, though when children come to the labyrinth there concerns really get to the heart of the matter and their understanding evolves quickly. It seems as if the labyrinth is a natural resource for a child and what comes out of them is a sense of creativity and understanding that has a refreshing honesty to it.

I think when adults walk the labyrinth they discover that sense of childhood clarity again and relate to what is true. With a lifetime of carrying things, it just takes us a bit longer to set it all down. When we do, we are rewarded with this turning of ourselves it seems into something that sits at the heart of our being. That is when we seem most magical.
