With seasoned eyes, there is a grateful recognition that something has transpired in between. On the labyrinth, a review becomes more than what we witness, as it involves our whole being transformed into experience mode.

A Case of Compassion

Day 364  December 30
In The Year of Honest Living
In The Quarter of: Contribution
In The Month of: Honest Gifts

Segment Five: Skills
Days 359-364

Considering Compassion

Image of Star Labyrinth for Segment 5 of Skills.Of all the skills we can improve and engage our natural abilities with full honesty, compassion is a skill we may wish to embrace more of. It is an essence that is a container for our character, feelings and how we regulate ourselves with it for the well being of what we relate to.

Sympathy is the status of feeling for another in their hardships, empathy is a way to endorse another’s experience by standing in their shoes, yet compassion offers us a place to elevate ourselves to and invite those who might need a hug from humanity into. With compassion everyone is elevated and its quality is so expansive, that it may also engage others who are nearby in an energetic embrace.

Tapping into the potential of our abilities through our skill capacity will always be a beneficial improvement with a walk of compassion in our life. It helps us to care in an efficient manner and provide effective strategies that become magnified in our ability to be steadfast in our own grounding while acknowledging what might not be.

Our walks of the labyrinth, designs, facilitations, creations and offerings this year have provided 364 days thus far, in cultivating a relationship with it, ourselves, and our abilities that are yet to be discovered. This message of honest living has employed a great sense of compassion that sees past being right or wrong and asks us to reveal ourselves and what we wish to be. A lesson in personal compassion.

Daily Insights of this 364th day…
Observe what compassion feels like. Notice how much more of it has risen this year in the discovery of honest abilities.

A Climate of Control

Day 363  December 29
In The Year of Honest Living
In The Quarter of: Contribution
In The Month of: Honest Gifts

Segment Five: Skills
Days 359-364

Choices of Control

Image of Star Labyrinth for Segment 5 of Skills. We may think that we are required to get a handle on ourselves or a situation that seems to be out of control, yet for experiences that seem to stray or stretch the borders of our normal routines, those issues that make waves or avoid are clear messages that something if off in our status quo. When we clamp down on control or step away, we can often miss an important message.

Whether it is a group we might be working with on the labyrinth or purely for ourselves, the labyrinth is a reasonable way to find a path that works and offers us a return to our normal state. It doesn’t dismiss our imbalance, it honestly walks with it and in the steps, turns and spiral of our direction, we lessen the immediate impact and begin to reveal a clarity that is more effective.

The labyrinth can become a tool of self regulation for any who choose to use it as a temperature of our internal climate or the combined energy of a group. With activity that moves us, even designing with it can offer us perspective that adapts our ability to deal with the constant element of change. It is more often a skill that develops with practice and time offering us a more grounded reality.

The idea of grounding is a relevant theme that appeared each month as a goal of the walk and also a practice of it in daily application. Self regulating to develop as a skill in a 365 day way, this year of experiences would increase.

Daily Insights of this 363rd day…
Observe the ways in which you easily self regulate and where more challenge is present. What gifts and abilities have made this easier this year?

Clever Competencies

Day 362  December 28

Segment Five: Skills
Days 359-364

Completeness in Competency

Image of Star Labyrinth for Segment 5 of Skills.Born to grow, its how we understand what we are capable, whether gifted with natural talents or skilled in interest and practice. We continue growing throughout our life and in everyday as we are open, willing and ready to realize and acknowledge that there is always something new to learn and that it keeps us fluid and adaptable in our environs.

Core competencies are explored in our formal education and continue through our professional careers. They essentially assist us in becoming both effective at what we do, by our understanding and applications that are effective. We learn to appreciate the complexity of life in a way that acknowledges whats necessary and moves us into a profound simplicity instead of confusion.

The walk of the labyrinth is a tool for these efficient and effective strategies to awaken, offer information, offer us variety in the ways to apply them and help us offer and useful skills for useful reasoning. It becomes a tool that dispels and debunks what is not relevant and endorses and engages with what is.

Our walks and explorations each month have offered perspectives from definition and personalization for understanding, to creativity, exploration and discovery. There are so many pathways that open new levels of appreciation into the metaphors and messages that we receive in our applications of a walk, that a year of daily experiences, is but a short time to discover.

Creative Collaborations

Day 361  December 27
In The Year of Honest Living
In The Quarter of: Contribution
In The Month of: Honest Gifts

Segment Five: Skills
Days 359-364

Closer Connections

Image of Star Labyrinth for Segment 5 of Skills. To explore the skill of unity and collaboration, is to see the value of both sides of a situation, in order to see the greater value that exists in individuals as well as circumstances. Balance only shows us what is different and how both are necessary to equate the two. Harmony offers us the opportunity to bring the usefulness of each side into perspective, much like we might in a walk of the labyrinth, what we bring in helps us in one way to appreciate what we walk out with.

Developing this skill is one way to lighten our load, as when we learn to see value, we learn to connect with more purpose.  We can both give and receive with others and find its a way to develop ourselves in what, who and how we relate to. In collaboration we bring the divisions together for a true oneness.

Our experience during August offered a long walk across the United States to explore the ways that labyrinths brought people together in different states. Each day a labyrinth was super imposed on the shape of the state to create a unique individual state perspective with a collective purpose nationally.

The labyrinths explored in each state provided service to uniting the communities they existed in, offering a purposeful existence for each. They symbolized the simple ways to unite and in visiting 31 of them in the month, a labyrinth trail was created nationally.

Daily Insights of this 361st day…
Walk and consider the skills that have improved with collaboration this year. What gifts where realized?

Conscious Communications

Day 360  December 26

In The Quarter of: Contribution
In The Month of: Honest Gifts

Segment Five: Skills
Days 359-364

Conveying Care

Image of Star Labyrinth for Segment 5 of Skills. In all of the ways we relate to our environs, the things within our environs, and the individuals that are a part, the ways which we communicate offer inroads to connection. The paths we convey association are varied, as body language and tone make up the majority of our relational skills, noting there’s more than what we say that impacts.

Everyone wants to relate better, and not just to other people. Sometimes it is about the way we look at the world and correspond with it, or just the way we relate to ourself. Being conscious and aware of our purpose in relating, what we hope to achieve in connecting and the attitude mixed with the aptitude desired to converse, can be the difference between a successful connection and a disastrous communication. When we consider skills developed and a purpose of realizing our capabilities, we can learn and develop how we engage more purposefully.

Considering the month of expression in September, what the labyrinth yields in our relationship with it revealed a daily variety that expanded the possibilities and opportunities in which we could relate. As unique as we are as human beings, our intentions and desires are equally diverse.

When we honestly offer ourselves in a relationship, we hope for the best and when we find an undeniable value and appreciation, we improve and expand our skill to raise our abilities to a consciousness that communicates it.

Cultivating Curiosity

Day 359  December 25
In The Year of Honest Living
In The Quarter of: Contribution
In The Month of: Honest Gifts

Segment Five: Skills
Days 359-364

The Curious Path

No matter what it is that you do or wish to pursue, curiosity is a skill set that can be added to elevate your educational outlook. The more you inquire the more you advance what you know. When you consider a new way to do something, some inquisition would be behind the accomplishment and when we share or contribute what we can do, it answers a calling or question that makes different the circumstance.

In each walk of the labyrinth, there is a place that we wish to make different in the steps we take or the development we create for new comprehension. We ask a question, raise an intention or consider improvement. Each is a curiosity waiting to be walked with in order to come away with a new idea, ideal, or perspective.

From the daily experiences, curiosity this year has been a regular part of the adventures.  It is a subtle way to increase skills and redevelop abilities. Being curious provides a natural inclination to discover, explore and find out more than we knew before. Each time we have explored a new labyrinth, a design or an idea, curiosity was involved in some way. Considering that idea now, raises the idea to question the validity of that statement.

It is our human nature to move beyond status quo and to reach to understand or apply something different. If we want to grow and increase, add more curiosity and skills will take on a new dimension and abilities will expand. Each step of our year’s experience has invited curiosity.

Daily Insights of this 359th day…

Segment Four: Talents
Days 353-358

The Other Senses of Life

image for Segment 4 by TheAmusedMuse.com

Relating to our natural abilities can involve an appreciation from a physical body perspective, the mind in its cognitive and emotional capacity, and in what the soul holds and offers, though in relating the expansiveness that our sensory capacity offers when more fully utilized and appreciated, we begin to think of the other natural senses.

What we determine as common sense, a sense of humor or an innate intuitive sense help us relate to the idea that sense is a factor of more consideration than we might at first consider.  One relates to a practical reasoned mind, another to an elevation of mind with a touch of bodily function in the response of laughter that often follows, and the very center of listening and discerning that beckons the soul to relate a categorical order to our other senses.

Our experiences this year have brought us in touch with all of these other senses and related them well to our walks of patterns, metaphors and insightful understandings. It has turned what’s common in common sense from being confusion to clarity in a walk that wicks away the non essential and restored sensibility to our common sense.

In April the sense of humor was explored as part of National Humor month as an opportunity to walk a little differently and explore innovation and creation when we are ultra heightened by our ability to perceive. Exploring the intuition has been a foundational part of our experience.

Sensory Stimulus

Day 357  December 23
In The Year of Honest Living
In The Quarter of: Contribution
In The Month of: Honest Gifts

Segment Four: Talents
Days 353-358

A Sense of Sense

Five pointed star labyrinth image for Segment 4 by TheAmusedMuse.comThe five traditional senses, offer us a basic interpretation of how we interface with the world. Minimized to three, chemical (smell, taste), mechanical (sound, touch) and photon (visual) we might consider the categorizations to minimize our experiences. Science now explores up to 39 different sensations that we utilize to interpret our world.

Some add a detail to the categorization that is more definitive and a clarification of what we are actually experiencing. Keeping this longer list in mind for its classification ability, the traditional appreciation of the five will suffice for this articulation and offer an opportunity to explore the many new discoveries to deeper degree.

The sense of sight is something we’ve become overly dependent on as when we see, we can trust. When we don’t we can become suspect to the viability. Largely dependent on visual acuity, we’ve lessened the greater perceptibility that can be valued in the frequency of time we spend utilizing the other senses. When we turn off visual ability, we can often find that it takes a little adjustment, though we can learn to navigate our world.

The labyrinth offers us the opportunity to walk and experience. Knowing is what builds from visual appreciation, though experiencing involves taking in more of our sensory world and observing our interactions. As this year has deepened our experiences, we can know we have expanded our sensory abilities as well.

Daily Insights of this 357th day…
Walk and observe the paths of your innate sensory abilities. Listen on one path, observe what is felt on another, notice your taste on yet another and realize aroma on a different path. Use vision and then turn it off to realize more appreciation of other senses.

Soul Walking

Day 356  December 22
In The Year of Honest Living
In The Quarter of: Contribution
In The Month of: Honest Gifts

Segment Four: Talents
Days 353-358

Soul Speaking Steps

The inner voice of our abilities might be considered as the soul that speaks. When we note resistance in our body, thoughts or feelings, we know that something is off and rather than merely push through, a moment of listening to the reservoir within might yield a moment that affirm a pattern to push through or ask for a shift of perspective.

Listening to the voice is something many attend to on the labyrinth. Discerning a greater truth in our perception or opening our mind to a different direction. Deep in the seat of our soul is the place we store our values and beliefs. They are what drive us to do and be as we are. They are learned traits and behaviors we adopt to correspond and interact with our environs and come from a variety of sources that shape the process that brings our results.

Beyond the learned experiences, there is an innate voice that has the ability to be connected to something more universal and relative to all. It’s untrained voice can speak softly at times and become a raging volume when its a calling to act or follow. Somewhere in between is a place where our soul points us to our honest abilities and when we make the time to listen and learn its message as we do in our labyrinth walks, we align with limitless possibilities.

Each experience of the labyrinth this year has soul walking possibilities. They are always present, though it is up to each of us to open and accept as we are ready and willing to do so. When we do, we change the way we walk.

Daily Insights of this 356th day…
Walk and listen, what is speaking in each step, body from the movement? Mind in thoughts? Soul of feeling?
