Holding Others, Holding Self

Day 27

January 27, 2019
Month of Beginnings
Quarter of Consciousness
Let’s Walk the World, a focus of contribution

  1. For Your Walk:
Experience yourself as an individual solo on the walk and at some point begin to regard yourself as one of humanity walking with others.
  2. For Your Experience:
Observe the different ways you regard the experience.
  3. Share:   Share your message
When we collectively offer the ways to begin, someone sees a new idea, thought or experience to enjoy. Today, share images, art, ideas, designs, tips, facilitations, building strategies, ideas from your book, poems, teachings, etc.

Today’s Experience:

The Center Point of the LabyrinthRecently, my attention is turning toward the value of being someone who ‘holds’ others – often silently, praying for them or just being a gentle guide in the background. This is a developing ministry for me, (I am an interfaith minister), that is taking me away from my usual preference to be ‘up front’, and probably encouraging me to allow my ego to take less center stage in the process.

I’m increasingly aware that labyrinth walking is a shared experience in which each person experiences their own feelings, thoughts, etc, but at the same time is a part of a greater whole.

Everyone who walks the labyrinth is treated equally, and our egos seem to fade away when we allow ourselves to just walk.

January: A Month of Beginnings

With a focus on sharing this month and the ways we set up our plans to the actual way we place our first step, beginnings can offer us a way to realize our outcomes.

  1.  Explore what beginning is like for you, personally or professionally in all you do.
  2.  Observe yourself in this first quarter of the year as a contribution.
  3.  Walk, design, teach, build, express yourself in sharing an experience this month.

Gifts that Give

TLS 365 Experience #293
December 18, 2017

As the morning coffee began to brew, I wondered on the small finger labyrinth what message to bring to our group for the evening.  There were lots of ideas mulling around in my head, though nothing stood out and really felt much like the contribution I wanted to share.  As I smelled the coffee, my fingers moved faster and I realized I hadn’t been paying much attention to what I was doing as the aroma reminded me of morning rituals. The overwhelm of the holiday bustle had packed in too much and I could feel it.

Just in that moment as I traced another turn, the reminder that I could take another direction on this. I realized people had a lot to say and why not bring my portable labyrinth with and just get people walking, talking and sharing their thoughts. More over, it would seem like a special activity meeting for the holidays, this was just getting better and better.

Printing out finger labyrinths and writing a quick holiday message on each realization came as I finally stopped to sip the coffee, a simple and very effective meeting was planned using the idea of what gave me the idea. The labyrinth can be a gift that keeps on giving… and I now would be passing that on in giving that idea to others.

A Clock Walk

TLS 365 Experience #163
Aug. 10, 2017

A Three part Labyrinth, clockworkIn the morning, I find I use the labyrinth to awaken, appreciation and create ideas for the day. The walk is opening and refreshing and an exercise of mind and body movement.

In the afternoon, I consider the use of the labyrinth to evaluate the intention of the day and how it has progressed and what is yet to come.

In the evening, I discover the use of the labyrinth to report to myself on the mindfulness of which my day was full, partial or randomly absent.

I think the pattern of the labyrinth is much like a clock in it’s design. At different times in my day, I wish to focus on different things and the ideas of beginning, amidst, and ending bring forth different attentions as the parts of our day might.
