Bless and Be Blessed

TLS 365 Experience #172
Aug. 19, 2017

I had a lot on my mind as I went out for a walk, all family oriented. By the church there was a labyrinth I would pass on my walk and at times it intrigued me enough to walk and at other times I preferred to walk the terrain to where I was going and back again. In walking today, I thought I would invite the family and when I came to the where the church was in my walk, the labyrinth seemed to be my path of progression.

I recognized right away that the separate paths were walks with different family members and now understand why the labyrinth drew me in.  As I brought up the conversation of one, it led into the conversation of the next family member until I had reached a point of conclusion in the center. There I noticed what was similar in all and how everyone of them could benefit by my blessing and not my confusion.

As I walked back out, each path was a family member’s blessing and when I came to the end, just being in the blessing mode made me feel the blessings too. Grateful for this walk.

Many Methods

TLS 365 Experience #155

Chartres Cathedral Labyrinth with Chairs presents no obstacle for the creativeIn France at the Chartres Cathedral, the labyrinth is most always covered with chairs. While I was there for a brief 10 days, I found there was many ways to walk this to accomplish and achieve the most out of what I came for.

One day I walked the turns of  labyris’ that were found in between the rows of chairs on the floor. The labyris is the double axe design and its symbolism is rich in what it means for the labyrinth. In design, it creates the point of turning and moving into the next step. Even this action of turning into and from a different position at various points was a symbolic walk with dedicated intention. Another day I moved from petal to petal in the center point with contemplation and meditation on each and then reversed the pattern.

Another day I was able to move along the lunations on the outer edge considering the walk within. Where I was able to go up to the ceiling, I could follow the path with my eyes looking down below to the design beneath the chairs. Finally there were a few times during the week where a feeling came over and when I walked in, the chairs were being removed for a ceremony or blessing and the invitation to walk freely was granted.  In being able to see past the barriers, the labyrinth was much more open than it was closed and perhaps a message about the labyrinth being more than half full, rather than empty.

Walking with Our Fathers

TLS 365 Experience #110
June 18, 2017
Labyrinth HandThe labyrinth is often called a feminine instrument as it relates to the lunar calendar and the Earth energies, which we know as Mother Earth. It may be what draws so many more women to the labyrinth than men, however it is an invitation always for everyone.

On this day that celebrates the father, the labyrinth is a wonderful tool to invite an honest reflection for father’s worldwide. As the labyrinth can take a point and spiral it inward, giving us different perspective directions to turn into; bringing in the wealth that father’s offer can be a blessing for humanity as we integrate a walk with that reality on this day.

What if on this day, we reflected on the way a father matters, the connection that children of all ages crave with their father and the one that a father really desires with his children. What if in each step we take, we all realize a step we can make to move closer to the father we have known and better wanted to know? What if we understood what it is that they wish? Consider the ways in which we are touched in heart, a physical hug, a pat, or holding a hand. Consider the ways in which we communicate in listening well, speaking what’s true and holding compassion.

May your walk of fathers, be one that changes your world.
