TLS 365 Experience #289
December 14, 2017
It’s in the simple moments with grandchildren that a family becomes extended and enriched. Mine had visited yesterday and I set up bowls of dried peas and pastas for them to create with as we made cookies in the kitchen. I spilled some flour on the counter and before I had a chance to wipe it up, the youngest was drawing stars in it.
I joined her and we made a variety of shapes, becoming more creative as we continued. It was in this play that my grandchild learned of the labyrinth, as the drawing of this symbol, to me seemed inevitable in creating and symbolizing. What was wonderful was in the application this young child brought to it. She commented on the paths and how they were ancestral. She noted that the outer paths were the great great grandparents and how each path led generationally to the center where she was.
My mind takes wondrous leaps in the wisdom of children, and isn’t that just like a child to know they are the center of all things in a family?
