Improved and Applauded

Day 323  November 19
In The Year of Honest Living
In The Quarter of: Contribution
In The Month of: Grateful Pathways

Week Three: Appreciation

The content of appreciation is broad in its reach and can continue to increase the more it is adopted, even from a curious place of research or inquiry. The little things of annoyance dissolve as the importance of the feeling that energetically broadens in scope. Our breathing changes and slows filling up more and releasing with completeness for a rejuvenating restoration.

Realizing the effects we can appreciate how thoughts are more deeply comprehended, the somatic response of the body’s independent autonomy and the internal waves of vibration that rouse the soul. With appreciation we are improved and in response we applaud the effort.

Improved to Applauded

Improved and Applauded labyrinth by TheAmusedMuse.comWalk in as Improved

The first improvement in observing improvement is that there is no obligation to improve. This is merely a look at the idea of improvement and what occurs as we improve and because we do so. Change is inevitable and the choice that represents itself is one of improvement or decay. Though what if our look at life wasn’t so harsh and we appreciated the improvements that we do because they feel compelling in an honorable way and are just the right thing to do to make a good difference for ourselves or for others? When we walk to simply observe the value in the improvements we see in the world and the ones we create, appreciation rises.

Walk out as Applauded

What brings us to applaud? As a compliment to another for an effort of greater magnitude, we acknowledge with a symbol of appreciation in our applause. Whether a singular clap or a standing ovation, applause is a universal concept of appreciation for what we find acceptable at a level of pleasing and purposeful. It says we see in another a great value of appreciative respect, cherished capacity or a grander love and admiration. Noticing improvements in our environs and self, we may wish to appreciate with applause, though what if we walked in with applause?

Daily Insights : On the first path of Appreciation in this 323rd day…
Acknowledge the value of improving as applauded is observed in a walk of return.

Week Three Focus: Appreciation

In discovering the elements of gratitude, thanks is an expression we use to communicate our sense of what we hold gratitude for. Explore the ways Appreciation is felt this week on the labyrinth in daily walks, group facilitation, program creation, offerings, artwork, illustration and design, building canvas or permanent designs, books written or poetry created. However you find thanks as the path, on the path or of the path you are on… how is it expressed?

    • Personal: consider the ways of your own personal adventures and use.
    • Associations: contemplate the ways of use with friends, family, and relationships or other acquaintances.

Keeping the Path

Day 309  November 5
In The Year of Honest Living
In The Quarter of: Contribution
In The Month of: Grateful Pathways

The Path of KThe letter K as a Labyrinth by TheAmusedMuse.com

K is the fifth letter in the expression of thanks and the first step in the direction of descent. Inwardly it might be considered the fifth path and the path of ascent. This path on a seven circuit labyrinth is the one that tends to makes decisive turns, as seven is the center and the sixth path typically circles the center before entering. The fifth path doesn’t move directly, it navigates and keeps us guessing in the turn of direction. Not always, yet in typical designs, it keeps the interest curious a bit longer in the journey.

K is for Keep

This path holds our intrigue, it keeps on and keeps us in touch with the directions that change. When it comes to gratitude, traveling this path is a keeper of the changes that have progressed to bring us to this point, and the keeper of the experience that brings the reason for expressing it and the expression of it. In this place K is a space holder of going up and coming down.

Walk your path or any one, or all of these seven paths of consideration of what we keep with thanks in mind:

  1. At every labyrinth turn, can you discover something to keep that you’re thankful for?
  2. At every labyrinth turn, can you discover something given that you’re thankful for keeping?
  3. How do you keep the labyrinth real, for self and others, in a way that brings thanks?
  4. What connections do you make and keep on the labyrinth that bring expression of thanks?
  5. In what ways do you keep on, with thanks, when it doesn’t seem possible in a walk or life?
  6. How does keeping make you grateful? How do you see it show up in your walk?
  7. What makes you a keeper, and the labyrinth you walk a keeper, in a way you would express thanks for?

Daily Insights : On this 309th day…
With so much focus on letting go, what do you keep that brings thanks on the labyrinth?

The Right of What’s Left

Day 134: May 14
In The Year of Living Honestly
In The Quarter of: Education
In The Month of: Celebration

The labyrinth of revealing turnsThis morning began early with a Middle school audience whose Principal is instituting rocket fire change in a great way for students. As a result our group of presenters were welcomed heartily, musically serenaded and found students ready and prepared for our visit asking great questions and absorbing information with eager fascination. On the surface it seemed a welcome change for an inner city school, though as one in the spotlight to create success in this rapid way, it also appeared that with all the progress and technology promised for improvement, there was a lot of performance to consider from students. In their worthwhile efforts a few left turns may create what’s right.

This concept may have been further expressed as in contemplation of putting a finger on the pulse of the experience, a missed turn occured on the way home. What was realized was that by staying on the path ahead, a labyrinth existed in a park on the left. Slipping off the thoroughfare and into the parking area, the labyrinth resided quietly nestled into the far edge of this interesting diversion of busy main streets. This particular labyrinth is well maintained, clean and appreciably landscaped, and it sits just beyond a playground area for children. It is also a park where many homeless citizens frequent and are found talking, resting, sleeping and gathering. On this day there were quite a number present;  all content with their own perspective and undisturbed by a walker’s simple journey.

The irony of the care, cleanliness and maintenance of the park area and the known condition of homelessness may seem to contrast, though like the calm in-between the busy streets and earl morning’s School Principal’s method; the city has found a way to create appreciation for its contrary realization. Those interesting turns of life that don’t seem to be at first right, can work out best for all concerned and give cause for the greater outlook to be a winning celebration.  Just when we think we know the ending, a turn and a twist occur in our perspective and we might well discover something larger occuring in the labyrinth of life.  Celebrate the left and right turns and appreciation may turn into realization… or realization turns into appreciation.

On this 134th day…
Celebrate your movements that appear to turn one way and take you in another direction. Let appreciation rise for the wise realizations and vice versa.

The Month of Celebration, Appreciation and Realization

May’s Focus: Celebration

Life is a celebration to explore in the next 31 days. With the idea of walking the labyrinth and its tri-focus on releasing, receiving and reflecting, let’s shift the perspective to one that walks in with appreciation, finds the honest realization from each day and walks out in celebration.  Observe what 31 days of this focus might reflect and how it elevates our life condition.

Four focus points to expand your celebration of this month’s experience:

  1. Share your ideas, in your personal experiences, how you share the labyrinth with others, art, design or method of construction or in other ways that it may be utilized. Let others know about this daily experience and opportunity by sharing it. Find us on this blog and on the Labyrinth Societies Facebook page
  2. Join our Mid Month Dialogues on May 15th at 2pm CST for a lively look at what you have created and will create in the idea of celebration. This month’s theme was a direct result of our last month’s Mid Month Dialogue!
  3. Participate in the daily opportunity of this educational focus of  your personal journey, how you lead, teach or share with others, and what you create for contribution or purpose with this theme.
  4. Remember that our theme is about finding our greater capacities, abilities and true realities in being honest with our potential. We focus on what we can do as it is inherently more useful and productive.

The Tenth

Day 130: May 10
In The Year of Living Honestly
In The Quarter of: Education
In The Month of: Celebration

a labyrinth of ten strokesOn this 10th day of May on the 130th day of the year, celebrating the number 10 with a focus on the decade. How far have we come in ten years? Consider your experience with the labyrinth ten years ago, your status in life ten years ago and your focus of the world ten years ago. Things have changed, though what has consistently grown and developed in your abilities and possibilities?  Let this tenth day in May remind you of the first year ten years ago, then the second and continue on until you find a developing trend that you can honestly celebrate.

This labyrinth design was made with ten strokes. Three straight lines and seven circles. Each stroke a way of relating to the last ten years. Having designed a decade walk for an organization years ago that celebrated the gains and wins in each year to be acknowledged and recognized, it was a great way to bring in the anniversary of their accomplishments and honor those responsible and the actions they took to create the positive focus for the company. Approaching a new decade of life soon in this month, it is also a great reflection of celebrations that assist in appreciating some new directions. With ones and zeros that make up the number ten, the lines and circles in the number 10 create a path of possibilities.

On this 130th day…
Celebrate your past decade for the gains you have created. Observe what has grown and developed and where you are more capable.

The Message in the Wind

Day 51: February 20
In The Year of Living Honestly
In The Quarter of: Awareness
In The Month of: Love

The weather can sometimes be a test of our truth. When the sun is shining, there isn’t much of a question as we find comfort in the warmth of the sun’s rise. This is the time we appreciate most as it is less conflicted and exists before or after a storm, or any period of seasonal turbulence. As the wind howls around today’s walk, grounding is a necessity as the gusts are picking up on anything not rooted or steadfast. Walking in the whirl of winds brings a message of change. Where change is constant, we find we are resistant to it as humans. We like our routines and known outcomes and change represents the alternative.

Today the weather’s winds are speaking volumes of change, leaving whispered messages for another day in lieu of the howling attentions sought in both its ability to create pressure and movement to provide sound in its spiraled circular masses.  The winds are not gentle in their communication, rather abrupt and demanding. Instead of resisting what might move me from the path of today’s steps, a decision to flow with its motion and use its undercurrent to advantage in staying upright became akin to playing with the wind and creating new paths.

In the release of resistance one can discover how the wind is a natural labyrinth.

February’s Focus

As it is the second month of the year, enjoy two opportunities… discovery and realization.

  1. Discover your Love capacity:
This month’s 28 days will focus on how we are loving the moments we are creating. Learning to be “in love” with our focus, it expands who we are beyond the partnered relational aspects and into the focus of loving what we offer the world, who we are in community, relating at a higher level to everything and everyone; and most significantly,  elevating the relationship we have with ourselves. Prepare for a wonderful experience of exercising the power of love with the freedom of honesty to realize a greater look at possibilities and potential n a delightful way. Discover how capable you are!

2. Realize synchronous evidence:
Inspired by the variety of heart shaped labyrinths, this month capture your experiences with images of the heart. Be on the look out for where the synchronicity of the moments where your heart is in focus and then look around to see where you can find the shape of a heart in symbol. Your awareness will expand and you just might be surprised to find that when we look with an open heart, we can find it in reference near by. It does require a bit of imagination, though the findings are wonderfully worth it. Share all the heart shaped labyrinth images you find with images, links or comments and I will be happy to post the images and moments.
Care to Share and Share to Care!

The Twelve Paths of Labyrinth

TLS 365 Experience #276
December 1, 2017

Twelve Paths of the LabyrinthOn the first path of Labyrinth, I found a place to enter
and knew if I kept pace, I’d find my center.
On the second path of Labyrinth, I adjusted to the walk, and silently began my inner talk.
On the third path of Labyrinth, I swung into great stride, stepping confidently and with no need to hide.
On the fourth path of Labyrinth, I noticed what I learned, with new perspective and directive when I turned.
On the fifth path of Labyrinth, I recognized a spiral
moving back and forth and inward all the while.
On the sixth path of Labyrinth, it led me to the middle,
and once there, easily resolved a riddle.
On the seventh path of Labyrinth, as I prepared to leave, the way back home would indeed include a weave.
On the eighth path of Labyrinth, as I began to focus,
I left behind the story and the hocus-pocus.
On the ninth path of Labyrinth, I noticed more,
now with open mind, ideas began to soar.
On the tenth path of Labyrinth, from all the winding change,
broader vision and depth, expanded range.
On the eleventh path of Labyrinth, I considered steps I made,
and all the choices that had been conveyed.
On the twelfth path of Labyrinth, I thought that I was done and then realized in life, I had only just begun.

Mirrored Effect

TLS 365 Experience #270
November 25, 2017

There are times when I used to think that I could not do one more thing. Life can get pretty overwhelming and whether it is in all the things to do and complete, or in all the things I need to be, it just felt like there was no point in going further. It is when I learned to step back and evaluate what I am doing and whether it is worth it, that it became the first step all over again. Either I walked away from what wasn’t necessary or purposeful or walk toward what I began with a new appreciation.

I realized this one day on the labyrinth as I kept finding distraction and losing the path. I started over a number of times before realizing that I did not need to start from the beginning. That made me realize I could start from where I was at and go where I wanted..or not even go at all.

It was no surprise to me to see my kids in this quandry in figuring out homework, projects or just doing something they thought they wanted to do. When I began to change my direction, so did they. Of the things I learn on the labyrinth, this one opened up the gift of a mirror.

A Feedback Loop for the Heart

TLS 365 Experience #234
October 20, 2017

Working with others teaches me that there are no limits to what experiences people can have with the labyrinth. The labyrinth seems to get to the heart of the matter and facilitates the change that is needed. It is almost like a feedback loop machine. We walk in with all our humanity and walk out changed for the better. All we need is to have an open heart.

A Path of Change

TLS 365 Experience #226
October 12, 2017

The leaves are changing and change is always a great topic for the labyrinth as it is something that is constant and flowing yet so hard to accept for what it brings. We offered an all campus walk and made it all about how each sees and comprehends change on the inward walk, how each invites it or resists it and the results in the center and what change each would like to make on the exit walk as a result of their experience.

We left a writing board up for people to write out their ideas and make their personal declarations for the calendar year at school. It opened up doors and avenues for our administrative boards to get behind the idea of what individuals were seeking and a place for us to engage our entire campus on one platform with individual directions. Throughout the year we will keep tabs on the progress, create events to support those ideas and keep it an open running dialogue in our classes.

Full Circle

TLS 365 Experience #104
June 12, 2017

I had walked the labyrinth for years independently enjoying my experience before sharing it with others. I know what I felt, though like many researched, read and discovered the many nuances and fascinating perspectives over time. Somehow each little bit of information made the experience that much more significant and it seemed like this pattern held both simplicity and complexity.

When I was asked to share the experience, it was for a change of seasons and a change of direction. Somehow I just knew what I would share as we are always about change on the labyrinth, and always moving in new directions.  I assembled quotes of so many that had walked before with perspectives of each walk and very simply asked each to embrace the change each felt from path to path and start to finish. The nervousness disappeared when I invited each to the experience as I didn’t need to do anything but allow each to walk their way and discover as I had.

Our talk that followed was full of rich and appreciable stories and sharing. I found it an incredible honor to share what I deeply related to and discover some of the same messages I had experienced over time being repeated in this circle of individuals. I realized this is what it meant to come full circle… on this circle of steps.
