TLS 365 Experience #147
July 25, 2017
So many take its design and purpose very intently, sacredly and seriously and while each has its purpose and place, what seems forgotten is how versatile the labyrinth can be. I like that it doesn’t have to be one way or one thing, it can be many things to many people.
I use it with young children in a care giving situation. There is a labyrinth in the park nearby and when we use the park for outdoor activities, the labyrinth often becomes a place to play. Sometimes there are dancing and movement activities, at other times we use its maze like quality to race, run and unwind. We play games on the labyrinth as it is a natural place for adventure. We play and pray together.
Through we also create much in collaboration, taking turns, inclusion, communication and creativity is explored so it also becomes a tool of learning. When we leave it up to kids, the labyrinth is a just a natural tool for discovery.
