Karmic Truths

Day 30: January 30
In The Year of Living Honestly
In The Quarter of: Awareness
In The Month of: Definition

We have a first hand look at the world of honesty from the spam invasion that seems to have found the comment area of our blog. Thanks to those who are sending earnest commentary, questions and sharing. The spammers send complimentary notes, though raise all kinds of ethical questions of taking content with little regard to our purpose here. Whether it’s a technology invasiveness or human transgression, we can find the world around us appears to have moments of dishonor and little regard for our earnest efforts;  walk to re engage what is true, what can be done and what it is that we really do have to do. Sometimes these things take care of themselves, other times we seek assistance and in other situations, we find the lessons of the experience to be telling.

Invited to a few marketing forums already this year, it is surprising to realize how many individuals do not use their own content and rely on others to say what they mean. From idea to implementation it appears possible to have others create your life for you to sell to others.  When participants in my workshops spoke of “stealing” my ideas and activities, it came as a surprise to them that I offered a better way that might keep them more honest, I let them know we engaged to inspire individuals to their own truth and ability. It does seem we are a world asleep to our believing in our own ability and honestly living into what is possible. When one takes on the idea of honesty as we have here,  it is a likely reality that we’ll encounter the opposite side in our experiences. How and where we walk with that can establish the depth of our determination to simply realize something that will service us as much as it will service others. When we discover what we are all about, small minded acts seem to become trivial. We all have our own karmic path to travel and paying attention to the bounty that shows up on ours is a full time experience of greatness.

A suggestion to walk with:

How do dishonest actions inspire your honest ones?

TLS 365 Experience 2018: The Year of Living Honestly
Whether it’s a daily walk, teaching others, sharing an experience, expressions of art, building or design, we explore the questions of what brings us to honesty in our use of the labyrinth.

In a world of emerging truth, the labyrinth is a great experience to discover more of what is right and true about ourselves and humanity. Join us in sharing the honest moments it reveals.

Daily unfolding the process:
Next Mid Month 365 Experience Gathering on February 15th  to explore the monthly focus. Share your posts from your walks and experiences with our theme this week at: 365Experience@labyrinthsociety.org

A Path of Change

TLS 365 Experience #226
October 12, 2017

The leaves are changing and change is always a great topic for the labyrinth as it is something that is constant and flowing yet so hard to accept for what it brings. We offered an all campus walk and made it all about how each sees and comprehends change on the inward walk, how each invites it or resists it and the results in the center and what change each would like to make on the exit walk as a result of their experience.

We left a writing board up for people to write out their ideas and make their personal declarations for the calendar year at school. It opened up doors and avenues for our administrative boards to get behind the idea of what individuals were seeking and a place for us to engage our entire campus on one platform with individual directions. Throughout the year we will keep tabs on the progress, create events to support those ideas and keep it an open running dialogue in our classes.

Refocused Fun

TLS 365 Experience #169
Aug. 16, 2017

I love my kids and am generally a fun spirited parent, though this was one of those days when I had drawn the last of my patience and knew I was in great need of some alone time and unable to time myself out, so I took the kids to the park.

They generally want to engage me or be acknowledged as they play, though on this day I really just wanted them to play without need of my participation. I thought I would walk the labyrinth while they played on the swings and the slide next to it, though they seemed to find a sudden interest in the labyrinth and were already racing though it.

Rather than completely give into despair, I called them back and ask them to consider how many ways we could walk a labyrinth and challenged them to walk in one way and out another and then to continue with new and different ways until they could not find any more. As we all began to walk, I found my stride in a comfortable way appreciating my own walk as they sped by me with there own intentions lost in the challenge.

I began my walk and instead of the quiet reflection I thought I would focus upon, I found myself considering walking sideways, backward, singing and skipping. I walked along and more thoughts popped up in a similar pattern and as amused as I found it, my patience had shifted and my amusement grew. Watching my daughter attempt to summersault her way around the labyrinth and my son making faces throughout made me laugh and become just as inventive. Grateful for the shift and focus on fun.

The Voice of the Labyrinth

TLS 365 Experience #161
Aug. 8, 2017

I got stuck today. Ideas that normally seem to flow were not and my focus was off. I couldn’t seem to concentrate for any period of time and even my focus could not seem to be narrowed down.

I picked up the finger labyrinth and thought it might shift my focus as it often is a place where I find new direction.  As my finger traced the path I began to feel a heaviness in my body and as I circled around, a sense of slowness crept in. By the time I reached the center I recognized how tired I was. The reflected return brought awareness to my breathing and as it’s slowness created a calm peaceful appreciation, a choice presented itself. In my attempts to accomplish a number of things, I had not been enjoying adequate sleep, my body was simply tired and I had not honored it’s message.

Not until the finger walk, did I stop to realize fully, the very thing that would bring back focus, function and creativity, sleep. The voice of the labyrinth is found when we engage with it.
