The Gift

TLS 365 Experience #302
December 27, 2017

gift of a finger labyrinthThere is a moment of utter delight when opening a gift that was carefully selected and offered with the love. This holiday I received just that gift and I think just watching the opening of it was quite of love for the recipient.

A recent injury sidelined me from daily walks on the labyrinth and while it gave me plenty of opportunity to draw, create and follow the finger paths, at this point in my journey of the labyrinth, I hadn’t owned a finger labyrinth that had any dimension. Opening this gift and discovering the fine marble design was truly a gift of love as it came from my husband and kids who didn’t seem to have much interest in it.

I couldn’t help but experience the first finger walk out loud expressing gratitude in each path for each member and as I turned sharing how each had made me feel. Somehow I filled each path with all that I felt and in reflection shared how this gift had brought the love of family, the joy of delight and the peace of goodwill forth.

Affirming Words

TLS 365 Experience #203
September 19, 2017

I’ve learned to express the thoughts that I want to live more frequently in my day. As I evolve in this new and enlightening place of resilience, I appreciate the labyrinth more. As I walk in with the thoughts and words for my day, I express them throughout the walk and what I become aware of, is the way in which I express the words changes from beginning to end.

There is either a soft acceptance and appreciable understanding or a confident knowing that affirms these words as my own. In each case, what changes in the expression as I spiral my way inward is the relationship I have with the words. Where they begin outside myself, they join me in the inward walk. By the center, I own the words. My walk outward has a different feeling, a new tone and a quality of humble acceptance.

As I leave the walk of the labyrinth, I step into the walk of my day more of myself than before.

A Choosing Point

TLS 365 Experience #162
Aug. 9, 2017

Center of the Labyrinth, a choosing point
Independently I use the labyrinth to connect.

I connect with myself, checking in with where my thoughts are and how I am responding to those thoughts in feeling to notice if they are aligned with what my heart and soul wish to express.

If I am not, the pace is different and there is a disconnect that lacks focus or direction. I seem to be just walking and not experiencing.

If I am on target, there is flow and appreciation and I begin to see the little things I might often miss in my walk.

The center is a choosing point of how to evolve from where I began.

A New Rhythm

TLS 365 Experience #158
Aug. 5, 2017

Many tines in walking the labyrinth I have had thoughts on my mind as I entered. Some were questions of what I wanted to know, others were of people I wanted to pray for or focus a concern for and well wishes. Other times I just wanted to sort things out, and often just to walk and become aware of what occurs in feeling or ideas that emerge. I’ve come to the labyrinth with a busy mind.

On this day, I came to the labyrinth with a chant that I wanted to express and memorize. As I walked I began the verbalization and continued to repeat as I moved into the walk. The chant became fluid the more I moved and by the time I realized the center, there was a rhythm to my walk and the chant. The stillness in the center seemed to capitalize on what was required of the moment and the quiet prevailed. As I walked back out, the chant seemed to be lighter and more relaxed. It wasn’t something I was saying, it was something I was becoming and when reaching my end, I leave the labyrinth grateful, peaceful and knowing.
