Savoring Seasonal Steps

Day 25

January 25, 2019
Month of Beginnings
Quarter of Consciousness
Let’s Walk the World, a focus of contribution

  1. For Your Walk:
Close your eyes and imagine this walk in the seasons of your year. Walk in as winter. At the middle of the first half of your walk close your eyes again and imagine the spring. At the end of the first half repeat the imagination with summer and before the last quarter of the walk, imagine fall.
  2. For Your Experience:
Do you walk differently with the seasons? Which is the most engaging and which the least and why?
  3. Share:   Share your message
When we collectively offer the ways to begin, someone sees a new idea, thought or experience to enjoy. Today, share images, art, ideas, designs, tips, facilitations, building strategies, ideas from your book, poems, teachings, etc.

Today’s Experience:

The first snow of the season falls on the labyrinthWalked the labyrinth today even tho snow covered 99% of path! Insight that as long as I kept moving, with muscle memory of having walked it before and knowledge of the center, even if it wasn’t a neat way to get there, I would still arrive at the center and retrace my steps back out again.

Honest about some discomfort about not doing it “right” and appreciation for building consistency of engaging with the labyrinth/myself and getting good exercise and brisk fresh air, too!

Divine Inspirations

Day 346  December 12
In The Year of Honest Living
In The Quarter of: Contribution
In The Month of: Honest Gifts

Segment Two: Inspiration
Days 341-346

Divinity Inspired

Five pointed star labyrinth image by TheAmusedMuse.comThe longer we explore the depth of the labyrinth, the more we understand our own human nature. With greater comprehension appreciation extends beyond what the mind is conditioned to accept. We begin to realize our body and movement more consciously, we use more of our sensory abilities and we discover a place of feeling.

We can better know ourselves in a complete way that engages with the honest expression of our soul. We can hear our inner voice and know what moves us in simple intrigue and discern what becomes a curious calling. The unexplainable appears to those who learn to open and allow and when in this natural flow of deep listening and realization our ability to connect with our higher selves emerges.

Whether its interpreted by faith or simply a flow of sudden understanding, it is a feeling of greater connection inspired as intuitive insight with a divine source. In the knowing moment of knowing listening, we absorb the flow and the feeling and become aligned and in step with the moment.

Many of those moments have transpired in reflection of this year’s development and creation. From the first day’s directional divine inspiration that put all the pieces together, to the walk of today, a divine message walks in step with the words that flow, or an idea that arrives, and even in the simple turn of a direction in the design of a path. The divine inspires us to inspire.

Daily Insights of this 346th day…
Notice how you make a connection with the flow of what is all around and within in your walk today.

The Unknown

Day 281  October 8
In The Year of Honest Living
In The Quarter of: Contribution
In The Month of: Message, Metaphor and Magic

Image of student designed triple spiral labyrinth with metaphor
Topic: The Unknown

The human condition as such makes wrong what is not understood, and the labyrinth illuminates a brighter, lighter realization of what is possible to understand moving unknown into a new appreciative holding space of great capacity to explore at many levels of knowing.

The  Message:
The unknown is a wonderful topic for the magical metaphors and messages of October. The unknown is always present with the known. In yesterday’s workshop that dealt with the joy of the soul, sole walking offered new interpretations of life from the knowledge of what we know, the sight of which we base that on and taking a detour onto the unknown path with blindfolds and a number of activities.

In groups of three, each triad made their own spiral labyrinth, without ever having done it before. They took the messages of the blindfold awareness from a previous activity to walk with greater insight into body mechanics and integration and realized a greater value in our three point message that began the experience. Each moved from knowledge, to wisdom

The Magic:
The magic occurred in the realizations of what they didn’t think they could do in building the labyrinth, to creating a basic structure to use. In walking with blindfolds they realized how much more they could see and walking with the unknown became the messy labyrinth of miracles appreciating and learning to trust what was unknown, messed up or seemingly somewhat of a mistake to their preconditioned ideas. It became a higher level of insight that didn’t just understand, it expanded to see more realms of known from the largeness of the unknown.

Daily Insights : On this 281st day…
Walk in great appreciation of what is unknown. Don’t be in a hurry to make it known, allow it to innovate and percolate and then become more than just known.

Patience in Perth

Day 159:  June 8
In The Year of Living Honestly
In The Quarter of: Education
In The Month of: Exploration

The fun of the water labyrinth is that it's nine squares rise with water around the borders and if you keep moving on the path, you won't get wet.

The Water Labyrinth of Perth by Jeppe Hein.  Photo by Guide to Perth Scoop.com.au

Labyrinths come in all sorts of shapes and sizes each bringing a gift of experience, insight and exploration. They are much like humans as we gain more when we experience, we are inspired by the insights we develop and with exploration, we find out how much more we are capable of. The vastness of potential is unlimited.

Today’s exploration brings us the creativity of the Water Labyrinth of Perth. On the Eastern shores of the great expanse of Australia it might feel at home to use water in this spirited way. The design by artist Jeppe Hein was created for a shopping area called Forrest Place and is made up of nine large squares that shoot water upward from their borders at intermittent times. The actions of the water elevations around the squares are timed so that an individual can walk into a square and stay dry in the center. As the water recedes they can walk to the square that is not raising water and then on to the next at each patient interval until they weave their way around the squares for a complete walk. An ingenious idea to create interest and teach patience and  play with predictability.

On this 159th day…

Explore your ability to make peace with patience and play with predictability. Make one path of both situations and observe how much you make out of them.

Interactive Map Progress
A great Interactive experience this month will include a google map to track where we have been and what labyrinths you submit. A World We Window

Day 114: April 24
In The Year of Living Honestly
In The Quarter of: Education
In The Month of: Amusement

Lines of the Labyrinth in windows of the world of weThe truth within us communicates many meanings and messages that encompass our depth, expanse, wisdom, compassion, insight and even our amusement. We are given a lifetime to explore the nature of our truth, capacity and contribution and the more we lean toward the lightness of who we are, the easier the simplicity and exploration and appreciation for the importance of this time which we are allowed to discover. A lighter look at the world can allow us the chance to view it with greater vision and perspective and in doing so we can weave the elements together that bring out more of who we are as a whole.

Today’s sojourn among the Miracle Keepers brought us on an internal journey that became connected in the path we walked collectively. Listening to the sharing of the members became a reminder of how each communication had a way of being relevant to all participants. Listening elevated the feeling of the group on the walk and in the talk and in reflection today’s design developed from the evolution of the experience. It brought a window of light into the window of the world of we. The lines of listening can provide us with many light moments and levity as this might be the actual opportunity in the world wide web to discover the world’s we window.

On this 114th day…
Walk with others who have come on the path before you taking the same steps with individual perspective, walk with those who will come and realize a moment of connectedness in your steps.

April's Banner Year of Living Honestly 2018April’s Focus

Let this month unfurl your creativity, spontaneity and jocularity. It feels good to feel good and while we have been conditioned to shush our good times, let the labyrinth be our own private creation station of amusement, enjoyment and playful experiments. This month educate with amusement and see how much farther you get. Have fun and be creative.  We have three opportunities to education your potential with amusement this month that involves either your personal walk, your ability to design and how much you can learn by sharing. On your Mark, Get Set…Go!

  1. Innovate – Walk Amused
In the 30 days that grace this month, play with the way you personally experience the labyrinth. Let this season of education be one of personal bests and enjoy finding a new way to be innovative, creative, inspired and amused in your personal experiences. I’d love to see what you come up with!
    Please share your wonderful experiences!

2. Create – Design Inspired
To date I have created 95 different labyrinth creations and designs since the beginning of the year, let that inspire you to create something new this month that is inspiring and firing for your imagination. Einstein said that playing with ideas was the highest form of research and this is an education for all of us.  As you walk in new ways, share your designs as I have done with mine last year and this. Perfection isn’t what we are after, amusement is! I look forward to seeing what you come up with! I will toss out lots of inspiring ideas… stay tuned daily.
Share away and become a glad designer instead of a mad one!

3. Relate – Share with Care
One of the best ways to learn anything is having to teach or explain it to someone else. Whether you facilitate others, teach or simply share with a few, spend the month discovering amusing new ways to help others get more out of their walk with a lighter attitude and a more earnest enjoyment in what you share. Anything you want to know more about, share and this month share with a fun flair and notice how much more you actually begin to understand. You just might find a side of yourself forgotten. To receive all that, be a great giver.
Share what you discover!

Realized Walk

TLS 365 Experience #290
December 15, 2017

This is the happy walk of realization!
When working on a project, idea or creation, walking on it over the months has produced little bits of important information. Where walking on it more has created new and different insights. Walking even more in those curiously blocked moments has developed a range of perspective not otherwise noticed. Then when all those moments, in those walks of inquiry, release and prayer have found their saturation point, there is one more walk left. It is the moment of happy realization in the completion, appreciation of the struggle and affirmation of the goal. This is the walk we wait for and when it is said and done, we look for the next idea or project to come.

A Natural Walk of Women

TLS 365 Experience #255
November 10, 2017

Using the labyrinth for women’s growth and appreciating the feminine, the metaphors and messages are always insightful and appropriate for our experiences. It seems to promote movement in women and allow a place that is stuck to become free in its spiraling fashion.  The body, voice, imagination, and heart all begin to move in rhythm to the paths and turns.

Mathematical Seeds

TLS 365 Experience #19
March 19, 2017

A  labyrinth-related ‘inspiration’ came in the moment of recognition that the pattern of arrangement of the odd and the even numbers in Paracelsus’ (9 x 9) Magic Square of the Moon corresponds precisely to the seed pattern of the classical labyrinth.

Connecting that cognitive insight with the Pythagorean idea that odd numbers are male and the even female, the labyrinth represents, symbolically, the simultaneous functioning of the intelligible principles rest and motion, and, by implication, the principles same and different.

Further investigation by extension into three dimensions yielded the additional revelation that wrapping a series of these 9 x 9 magic squares around a cylinder constitutes a continuous helix when the numbers on the squares are traced in their ‘natural’ order one through eighty-one. From this one can infer the symbolic presence of life in the ‘seed;’ and from the seed the cosmos, also known as the labyrinth.
