The Reflection from Within

Day 180:  June 29
In The Year of Living Honestly
In The Quarter of: Education
In The Month of: Exploration

The Sunwheel Labyrinth in Innsbruck, Austria by Gernard Candolini

The Sunwheel Labyrinth in Innusbruck, Austria. Credits: Gernot Candolini

This classical design has a reflective piece in the center amidst the bright yellow flowers. The orange flowers on the edge reflect a natural radiance of the sun’s edges and this peaceful structure sits in a park in Innsbruck, Austria. Gernot Candolini shares his fascination with the labyrinth in design and form having created numerous labyrinth designs and published several books. He is a symbol for exploration as when he learned the differences between maze and labyrinth, he began his own journey of sharing the designs in his homeland of Austria, and in the world beyond.

In our journey of exploration, it is Gernot’s story that many can relate to in finding a connection and pursuing it to learn more. Those who share, learn the most. As it is when we put ourselves “out there” that we take a risk in exploring the world outside allowing what is inside to travel and grow. As we begin to close our month, it is a time of reflection to consider the ways in which the explorations of the external world have impacted the internal and vice versa.

On this 180th day…
Explore the way you become more in your walk of this day. Celebrate the ways you can or do share yourself with the world.

Interactive Map Progress
A great Interactive experience this month will include a google map to track where we have been and what labyrinths you submit. Lets see if we can make a labyrinth pathway out of the month of travels based on the locations offered.  We began in Portland, Oregon…. Click here to watch the progress grow this month!

June Banner 2018 TLS 365 Experience World Wide Wonder

Welcome June

Our exploration this month is to discover the World Wide Wow in the unique and innovative labyrinth designs world wide that inspire us to move beyond the everyday and give us a larger labyrinthic look at what our path can truly provide. From the idea of living outside your box to simply doing something different everyday, allow this journey of June to educate you and your relationship to life with the labyrinth. We’e taking a global course in Labyrinthing!

  1. Get Global….Explore the World
Investigate the world wonders of labyrinth design that are unique and different. From the permanent structures that are built to the canvas portable unique designs or the finger labyrinths that inspire a different walk, share the images at the 365 Experience on the TLS website and provide some detail and share your thoughts. Note how these designs are  outside the box of traditional design and how they might take us outside the design we’ve been living in.  They can be quite diverse or small simple adjustments that make it different too.
  2. Act Local…. Bring the World to you
Let your walks, programs, designs, creations and simple enthusiasm be inspired by what the world offers us with fresh ways to create new experiences in the 30 days of this month. If it is doing something different each day, walking a new labyrinth, designing, researching or some new way to share, do it then share it with us! By becoming acquainted with the unique labyrinths of the world, we can be inspired as to why they are different, how they serve and what they offer on the same path we walk on in our home or local community area.
  3. Join the online  Mid Month Dialogues Call on Friday June 15th at 2pmPST
Be curious, research and share what you know of unique world labyrinths in the first half of the month and apply something that you find unique to your own life walk. Join us on the Mid Month Dialogues to share what you discovered, ask questions and hear from others about what they explored and discovered. Be inspired with an insight to complete the month with and make June a true world Journey.  Call connection Information

Two to One

TLS 365 Experience #232
October 18, 2017

The labyrinth’s message may be internal though externally is where it shows up. Like night and day the two sides are equally balanced as we move in and out in what appears to be a system of duality.  It is the wholeness of the experience that offers us a oneness in the completion of both parts.

The Quiet

TLS 365 Experience #153
July 31, 2017

The quietness of a labyrinth in CaliforniaToday is a quiet day and as I reach for the labyrinth, it becomes a still and quiet walk. I find when I am in this kind of quiet, everything seems slower and more profound. Whether I finger walk or utilize full body, the movements I make are very purposeful as if I can feel the tense and release of muscles. noticing how  each is applied in the momentum. My awareness becomes very exact as the quiet is applied like a blanket, and rolls out in a complete way to encompass the entire body.

The quiet is internal and isolates the outside world from the experience. Each motion is observed for what it is, without any descriptive thought or plan from the mind. It is in these moments of the walk that the action of the leg striding to make its next step is complete with the natural force of the foot bearing weight onto the pathway. In the finger walk it is the extension of the arm and the texture felt under the finger as it reaches its destination along patterns and grooves.

To apply a deep quiet creates an expansion of awareness and greater appreciation of each chosen action.

Natural Landscapes

When we scope the natural landscape we tend to think of the external resources such as land mass, water, sky and the living breathing planet. Though set upon this very planet are also the vast seven billion human forms. Internally there is a natural landscape that we continually shape by our thoughts, emotions and actions.

I’ve come to a conclusion that we are all just living labyrinths moving back and forth sometimes with intention, sometimes lost in thought and even sometimes dancing along a path as creators of the next reality.

Science shows us of the imprinted paths of our brain, digestive, and various bodily structures.. taking all that we are onto the labyrinth it is like a homing device where we instinctively know where to go and learn what is out of step when tuned in. That makes the course correction pretty simple and with easy adjustments.

The key is tuning in and then taking action. Of course it could also be that just taking action might be the thing that causes us to tune in as well. Thus lies the opportunity in shaping the external and internal labyrinths of the world.

It’s in the steps whether internally or externally, movement creates the change. In the movement there is a beautiful poem from the heart of Thich Nhat Hanh that speaks to us suggesting we kiss the Earth with our feet as we walk. In that way I think we will make a connection of inner and outer labyrinths.

Thich Nhat Hanh’s Kiss the Earth

Kissed for today,
Lynda
