Natural Transition

Day 21

January 21, 2019
Month of Beginnings
Quarter of Consciousness
Let’s Walk the World, a focus of contribution

  1. For Your Walk:
How do you experience the moon’s phases on the labyrinth? Consider the ways you personally walk through the month of rising growing and descending phases.
  2. For Your Experience:
Notice how your experiences relates to the labyrinth, the moon and life.
  3. Share:   Share your message
When we collectively offer the ways to begin, someone sees a new idea, thought or experience to enjoy. Today, share images, art, ideas, designs, tips, facilitations, building strategies, ideas from your book, poems, teachings, etc.

Today’s Experience:

Image of the labyrinth on the sea in the moonlightThe full moon has begun its phase of completion in its journey of monthly transformation for January. January’s moon is known as the Wolf moon and it brings an interesting eclipse as the moon drops into Earth’s shadow in its orbit. As the moon enters the Earth’s light shadow (penumbra) it will move through about five hours of transition until complete for a total lunar eclipse.

A labyrinth walk during one of these phases of transition through the eclipse can be transformational and illuminating. An evening group walk or workshop can consider the transition of the eclipse in the design of the labyrinth. Allowing the natural migration of the labyrinth’s weaving of direction provides a spiral of depth for purposeful pursuit. One can walk into the center of the labyrinth as the stage of the moon begins its eclipse and out of the center or out of the labyrinth’s reflective return stroll as the navigation completes.

Walking out of the eclipse of the moon, we are reminded that the full state of the moon’s status offers a remaining waning quarter for reflection.  Experience a waxing to waning walk using the center or the whole labyrinth.

Beyond

Day 327  November 23
In The Year of Honest Living
In The Quarter of: Contribution
In The Month of: Grateful Pathways

Week Four: Counting Your Blessings

Exploring the elements of thanks, gratefulness, and appreciation may have elevated and expanded understanding of gratitude. It is understood in the cognitive sense, experientially impressed in the body, emotionally directive and soulfully affirmed. The fourth element of gratitude is found in the blessings it creates.

As all experiences have beginnings and endings, blessings  are found in both, yet stem from our interaction of being aware, explored or applied. Blessings are always available, though it takes our participation to realize the prize that awaits our request. One path at a time, we open blessings. This week gratitude opens from the blessings we count.

Blessings Labyrinth Path 1

The First Blessing: Beyond

In the walk of the labyrinth we begin and end and begin again. From the first step in to the turns that are frequent, there is a place we move into as we move out of one turn and into another. The same holds true for the center space of the labyrinth. We step in and we go beyond.

What takes us beyond is the curious mystery of what lays between spaces, after and before. In each a blessing is tucked away in between the access and egress. Blessings are everywhere, though with a walk of the labyrinth, there is an intention to discover through movements which become a continual action of into and out of. With each navigation we chance to open what lays within and what invites us beyond.

Daily Insights : On the first path of Appreciation in this 327th day…
Walk the blessing of going beyond the spaces, places and races from here to there, counting the blessings that appear in your walk.

November’s Focus

Banner Image of Grateful Pathways for November 365 Experiences

Week Four Focus: Blessings

In discovering the elements of gratitude, thanks is an expression we use to communicate our sense of what we hold gratitude for. Explore the ways Appreciation is felt this week on the labyrinth in daily walks, group facilitation, program creation, offerings, artwork, illustration and design, building canvas or permanent designs, books written or poetry created. However you find thanks as the path, on the path or of the path you are on… how is it expressed?

    • Personal: consider the ways of your own personal adventures and use.
    • Associations: contemplate the ways of use with friends, family, and relationships or other acquaintances.
    • Environs: realize the community uses, organizations, landscapes encountered.
    • Global: imagine the ways that what you do reaches others in the world environs.

Share and become part of history and her story…

Consider the topic with the ways you currently use the labyrinth for self or sharing with others:

• Personal Walk
• Group Walk, Program, Workshop, Education, etc.
• Designs, Artwork, illustrations, photos of labyrinth you walked, etc.
• Building concepts, tips, techniques, design ideas, etc.
• Personal Development, Guidance, Growth orientation, etc
• Writing, poetry, creations, installations, etc.
• Learn something new about yourself, others or the labyrinth this month.

Horsing around with Innovation

Day 129: May 9
In The Year of Living Honestly
In The Quarter of: Education
In The Month of: Celebration

Labyrinth as an Equestrian learning pathRemembering the Equestrian Riding Club that came to demonstrate the agility of the horse on the labyrinth. It was quite a demonstration of grace that allowed both horse and rider to come to a moment of truth in the elegant ease of which both navigated the turns in flow with the labyrinth’s path. There is much wonderful work done with the horse and the labyrinth and much to celebrate in the accomplishments of creativity and innovation that continually find new uses for this ancient path.

In my travels I have met individuals who rehabilitate horses using the path of the labyrinth and one might think they are wide paths, however the path is purposefully narrow and the size of a regular labyrinth. This  really shows the honest ability guided to its fuller potential. There are others that rehabilitate people with improved health, elevated emotional fortitude, reconnecting physical ability and restoring cognitive function on horseback. When they take the horse to the labyrinth, what has been reported is that both rider and horse experience beneficial improvements.

On this 129th day…
Celebrate your own navigation of the path and step into awareness of the improvements made in your physical body, attitude, aptitude and overall connected realizations.

The Month of Celebration, Appreciation and Realization
May’s Focus: Celebration

Life is a celebration to explore in the next 31 days. With the idea of walking the labyrinth and its tri-focus on releasing, receiving and reflecting, let’s shift the perspective to one that walks in with appreciation, finds the honest realization from each day and walks out in celebration.  Observe what 31 days of this focus might reflect and how it elevates our life condition.

Four focus points to expand your celebration of this month’s experience:

  1. Share your ideas, in your personal experiences, how you share the labyrinth with others, art, design or method of construction or in other ways that it may be utilized. Let others know about this daily experience and opportunity by sharing it. Find us on this blog and on the Labyrinth Societies Facebook page
  2. Join our Mid Month Dialogues on May 15th at 2pm CST for a lively look at what you have created and will create in the idea of celebration. This month’s theme was a direct result of our last month’s Mid Month Dialogue!
  3. Participate in the daily opportunity of this educational focus of  your personal journey, how you lead, teach or share with others, and what you create for contribution or purpose with this theme.
  4. Remember that our theme is about finding our greater capacities, abilities and true realities in being honest with our potential. We focus on what we can do as it is inherently more useful and productive.

Face Time

Day 107: April 17
In The Year of Living Honestly
In The Quarter of: Education
In The Month of: Amusement

Navigating the Labyrinths of the FaceLooking into the face of another, one can see a lifetime etched in the soft lines that form and illustrate the character and changes that have transpired. Expressions that leave traces behind discreetly display attitude and when we have the chance to truly study the face of an individual, we can see how the structural lines flow into form with interesting design. A deeper look with a labyrinthic eye will reveal the significant movement of line perhaps a little differently.

Amused by the various laugh lines present during a meditation experience of looking into other’s expressions, today’s exploration and amusement reveals a journey of the face to realize a number of intersections and directions that resembled a hidden value for our anatomical experience.  Beginning with a simple curl, the ear offers an interesting spiral and leads to the traversing of strands that are connected by a spiral design in the scalp. The fine lines of the eye brow offer a circuitous traveling from outer edge to the inner line of the nose. Dropping away to the eye lashes another round of curious navigation comes round to the fine lines of the eye and the very interesting designs of the eye all the way to the center point of the pupil. Moving along the long curve of the nose from the small lines around and curving up into the nostrils meet the ridge of skin that moves us down into the lip line.

Traversing the fine lines of the lip we can travel from one side to the other between the lines from top to bottom to find ourselves moving from external to internal by opening our mouth and dropping into the oral cavity. Were we to have freckles, moles or birthmarks, the navigation would find a way to encircle and embrace the way in which they grace the face.

While this may just be an amusing way to see the labyrinth in interesting places, we were designed with all these features and to explore them in light hearted ways can often help us to understand and explore more.

On this 107th day…
Discover the labyrinths of your face that are apparent and explore with another for an amusing adventure in having curious fun with others.

April's Banner Year of Living Honestly 2018April’s Focus

Let this month unfurl your creativity, spontaneity and jocularity. It feels good to feel good and while we have been conditioned to shush our good times, let the labyrinth be our own private creation station of amusement, enjoyment and playful experiments. This month educate with amusement and see how much farther you get. Have fun and be creative.  We have three opportunities to education your potential with amusement this month that involves either your personal walk, your ability to design and how much you can learn by sharing. On your Mark, Get Set…Go!

  1. Innovate – Walk Amused
In the 30 days that grace this month, play with the way you personally experience the labyrinth. Let this season of education be one of personal bests and enjoy finding a new way to be innovative, creative, inspired and amused in your personal experiences. I’d love to see what you come up with!
    Please share your wonderful experiences!

2. Create – Design Inspired
To date I have created 95 different labyrinth creations and designs since the beginning of the year, let that inspire you to create something new this month that is inspiring and firing for your imagination. Einstein said that playing with ideas was the highest form of research and this is an education for all of us.  As you walk in new ways, share your designs as I have done with mine last year and this. Perfection isn’t what we are after, amusement is! I look forward to seeing what you come up with! I will toss out lots of inspiring ideas… stay tuned daily.
Share away and become a glad designer instead of a mad one!

3. Relate – Share with Care
One of the best ways to learn anything is having to teach or explain it to someone else. Whether you facilitate others, teach or simply share with a few, spend the month discovering amusing new ways to help others get more out of their walk with a lighter attitude and a more earnest enjoyment in what you share. Anything you want to know more about, share and this month share with a fun flair and notice how much more you actually begin to understand. You just might find a side of yourself forgotten. To receive all that, be a great giver.
Share what you discover!
