Daily Celebrations

Day 144: May 24
In The Year of Living Honestly
In The Quarter of: Education
In The Month of: Celebration

Daily Celebrations with a labyrinth overlaid of rectangles and footstepsWhat practices or commitments do you make on a daily basis? Walking the labyrinth is one we can do to compliment our meditation, intentions, prayer, exercise, focus time or conscious presence, creative time, stress release or even better….joy increase. Where we want to improve, repeating a process or practicing it helps us to know it more and adapt to the lesson or desire to understand more. It is in those practices that we can appreciate and celebrate what we are doing to promote new understanding and make improvements with our understanding of ourselves and the world. We might not even realize that each time we step forward into a practice or commitment, we are celebrating the forward movements we make.

From eating to eating in a healthy way, to walking for discovery or improvement, the many simple things we do all day long may have a sense of repetition that we often don’t think about that are what allow our abilities to sharpen and strengthen. Take some time today to realize how many little and seemingly insignificant  things you do for your own well being and as you do, appreciate them and celebrate yourself. As we make improvements and cause for celebration in our own lives, we can help but interface with others in this better way and elevate the world too.

In this design there are 196 different positive ideas of things you probably do everyday though don’t consider the celebration of them…. Observe the change when you do.

On this 144th day…
Walk with all the things you do daily and celebrate those things that you do to improve and appreciate your life.

The Month of Celebration, Appreciation and Realization

May’s Focus: Celebration

Life is a celebration to explore in the next 31 days. With the idea of walking the labyrinth and its tri-focus on releasing, receiving and reflecting, let’s shift the perspective to one that walks in with appreciation, finds the honest realization from each day and walks out in celebration.  Observe what 31 days of this focus might reflect and how it elevates our life condition.

Four focus points to expand your celebration of this month’s experience:

  1. Share your ideas, in your personal experiences, how you share the labyrinth with others, art, design or method of construction or in other ways that it may be utilized. Let others know about this daily experience and opportunity by sharing it. Find us on this blog and on the Labyrinth Societies Facebook page
  2. Join our Mid Month Dialogues on May 15th at 2pm CST for a lively look at what you have created and will create in the idea of celebration. This month’s theme was a direct result of our last month’s Mid Month Dialogue!
  3. Participate in the daily opportunity of this educational focus of  your personal journey, how you lead, teach or share with others, and what you create for contribution or purpose with this theme.
  4. Remember that our theme is about finding our greater capacities, abilities and true realities in being honest with our potential. We focus on what we can do as it is inherently more useful and productive.

Remembering Aid

Day 9: January 9
In The Year of Living Honestly
In The Quarter of: Awareness
In The Month of: Definition

Memorial Wall Las Vegas, NevadaFinding myself in the downtown section today,  I thought I would revisit an area I am intending to add service to in building a labyrinth. Their is a memorial heavy with intense feeling that a labyrinth might move in a healthy way. For the past few days there seems to be a direction calling forth service with the labyrinth and today I happened to catch the end of a tribute ceremony of survivors. In speaking with an individual that has found a mission as a daily guardian for the site, the grassy area that seemed a natural place to add a labyrinth seemed to hold something of sacred persuasion and where many walked across it, he suddenly became protective of any intrusion, including the aid of a labyrinth of which he was unfamiliar.

It is a reminder to move with respect and consider all parties in what is offered.  A few told me of their stories in a more open way than in prior visits and I realized that time was passing and shock had moved a bit into the natural grief process for this community. Listening was the best response and in hearing the stories, much time would have to pass for the healing to process. We tend to be in the moment when tragedy strikes with compassion, though it ebbs as our life moves on forgetting the continued need and simple acts of those who are struggling or still finding a way to make sense of what does not. The thought occurred to me that instead of using other community members in the building, it would better serve the families of this tragedy to come together in the healing of creating it themselves. In this way so much more could be offered. As I drew out a design for one curious individual, I also found  another who shared the resources that would best integrate this idea more delicately.

The honesty of these moments today would best be described as  humbling, heartfelt and hopeful.

Suggestion for your walk:

When we honestly put service for others in place, what do we gain?

TLS 365 Experience 2018: The Year of Living Honestly
Whether it’s a daily walk, teaching others, sharing an experience, expressions of art, building or design, we explore the questions of what brings us to honesty in our use of the labyrinth.

In a world of emerging truth, the labyrinth is a great experience to discover more of what is right and true about ourselves and humanity. Join us in sharing the honest moments it reveals.

A Little More Me

TLS 365 Experience #241
October 27, 2017

Every time I walk, more is seen, understood and grown.

There is something infinitely intangible in what is experienced over the liminal threshold of the labyrinth. Each time I become a better person in knowing something else. In the world of making a difference, I do this by just getting better, growing and becoming something of this life that is more fascinating in the process and progress of time.

Solution Path

TLS 365 Experience #156
Aug. 3, 2017

Getting a group on the labyrinth during a workshop was a wonderful way to get everyone connected.  I found a group that was just not connecting with each other in the material that was presented. As the material worked well with other groups, it was a question.

We had the thought to put everyone on the labyrinth and walk with a few questions. As they completed, we sat down for a discussion and found a very real cultural misunderstanding had occurred. Using the labyrinth helped everyone to understand the point, the process and the practical application as intended and also where the error in judgement had occurred without an issue.

If we had not thought to find a quick way to get everyone communicating in this way, we would have missed a valuable lesson into the cultural implication that had been misinterpreted. No one had a clue that this had not been part of our plan and without skipping a beat, we were back on the path of purpose and progress.

Slowing Down

TLS 365 Experience #118
June 26, 2017

The labyrinth is where I learn all about how to slow down and appreciate. I keep finding myself hurried and busy and it seems to really be increasing as there is so much busy and hurry in the activity around me.  It often feels like a feeding frenzy of unnecessary activity.

I am happy to have a place to go that lets me take the slow meander and relax as I move. On the labyrinth I walk intentionally slower, though am seeming to move so fast; until my mind catches up with the pace my body is moving. Instead of my mind telling my body how to react, I reverse the process and now just taking a walk has a whole new meaning.

The Path and Process

TLS 365 Experience #89
May 28, 2017

One of the ways I educate with the labyrinth, is in the process of getting ready for something. Before we begin any great project, a chance to ask some important questions and to learn to listen for the answers.

It teaches when we walk as everyone has to learn to negotiate their space, learn to adjust and listen and because we are typically a group in the project, learn the value of consensus. Everyone learns to appreciate and accept pace because everyone’s individual step can fuse into a collective stride.

As we come to a close,  I build in a walk at the project completion for reflection of the learning in the process at the end. The overall understanding really brings a fullness to the experience as it helps everyone to gain perspective of their individual experience as well as the group and often there tends to be a larger form of overall acceptance in each other as a result.
