The Yes of No

Day 102: April 12
In The Year of Living Honestly
In The Quarter of: Education
In The Month of: Amusement

Yes over No labyrinth design by the Amused MuseToday was a day of hearing too many no’s, too many worries and too much of what won’t work as opposed to a more natural focus on what does.

To this individual who’s made a living on bringing to light what works, what’s right and what is natural over normal, hearing too much in the opposite direction can drive an urgent focus on creativity to restore the balance.  It became a YES day and surrounded by a world of No’s, a design came to mind that developed a labyrinth that might take a while to matriculate to allow the time to remember and redirect a focus to one that isn’t just positive, it can be a more effective and efficient way to do everything.

One can be reminded through the 40 labyrinths of NO before embarking upon the YES and the seven other NO‘s that are found among the YES that all the NO is essential often to find the value of the YES. Sales people are often told to achieve and appreciate the NO as it can be instrumental in defining the nature and behavior of the YES.  For those light hearted enough to play with the NO, turning each one into a YES can provide a wealth of understanding and insight to elevate our human condition.

On this 102nd day…
Amuse yourself with the No’s in your life or of this day. Walk with the easy one’s first and in your steps discover the value of each NO and how it leads to a YES.

April's Banner Year of Living Honestly 2018April’s Focus

Let this month unfurl your creativity, spontaneity and jocularity. It feels good to feel good and while we have been conditioned to shush our good times, let the labyrinth be our own private creation station of amusement, enjoyment and playful experiments. This month educate with amusement and see how much farther you get. Have fun and be creative.  We have three opportunities to education your potential with amusement this month that involves either your personal walk, your ability to design and how much you can learn by sharing. On your Mark, Get Set…Go!

  1. Innovate – Walk Amused
In the 30 days that grace this month, play with the way you personally experience the labyrinth. Let this season of education be one of personal bests and enjoy finding a new way to be innovative, creative, inspired and amused in your personal experiences. I’d love to see what you come up with!
    Please share your wonderful experiences!

2. Create – Design Inspired
To date I have created 95 different labyrinth creations and designs since the beginning of the year, let that inspire you to create something new this month that is inspiring and firing for your imagination. Einstein said that playing with ideas was the highest form of research and this is an education for all of us.  As you walk in new ways, share your designs as I have done with mine last year and this. Perfection isn’t what we are after, amusement is! I look forward to seeing what you come up with! I will toss out lots of inspiring ideas… stay tuned daily.
Share away and become a glad designer instead of a mad one!

3. Relate – Share with Care
One of the best ways to learn anything is having to teach or explain it to someone else. Whether you facilitate others, teach or simply share with a few, spend the month discovering amusing new ways to help others get more out of their walk with a lighter attitude and a more earnest enjoyment in what you share. Anything you want to know more about, share and this month share with a fun flair and notice how much more you actually begin to understand. You just might find a side of yourself forgotten. To receive all that, be a great giver.
Share what you discover!

A Window in the Clouds

TLS 365 Experience #206
September 22, 2017

finger tracing the labyrinth in the clouds.Traveling today was tiring with many delays and reschedules. On the last flight I looked out the window wishing I was aready home and watched as the clouds passed by to occupy time. Each had a different shape and structure and in watching the scenery,  my finger began tracing their shape on the window.  The pattern became that of the labyrinth as moving my finger to follow the different shades of white.

The first I realized was the classical design from a half round shaped cloud. Then a repeating Roman design in the box like cloud that appeared.  A meander followed that from the ribbons that appeared as we moved.  Finally a medieval path in a particularly complex cloud structure. Noting some clouds were fleeting, while others larger and more encompassing,  created awareness for the smaller and quick designs that can be rapidly designed,  as well as the larger that allowed for a little more adventure and time.

It appeared that every cloud might suit a different design of the labyrinth well and it became a sort of game to see how many different designs I could remember and accurately trace on the window. I am sure the cleanup crew must have wondered, though the simple tracing gave my mind something to do that was both exercising the ability to repeat all the designs from memory and activated new and creative ideas for other designs.

TLS 365 Experience #194
September 10, 2017

I beginOnce I step in… I Begin.
I begin to feel.
I begin to see.
I begin to experience.
I begin to explore.
I begin to remember.
I begin to understand.
I begin to know more.
I begin to appreciate.
I begin to realize.
I begin to smile.
I begin to be.
until I come to the end.
Then I complete… and begin again elsewhere.

Grandma’s Walk

TLS 365 Experience #107
June 15, 2017

Yellow Rose Labyrinth for Grandma's 99th BirthdayToday is Grandma’s birthday.

She would have been 99 years old and while she wouldn’t have liked the old part, the 99 years would have impressed her.

I walked on this day with Grandma, mindful of yellow roses and a sweet feeling that she seemed to share without even knowing it. At first I felt alone, though soon knew she was there walking along side me, smiling. She holds my hand and my heart and while I seem to wonder about her and miss her at other times, today I know today she is my heart and mind.

I just wanted to walk and honor what she meant to me and somehow what was heavy on my heart infused unexpected emotion in the winding of the paths.  With Grandma in mind, the sudden comfort and outpouring of love was like a blanket that held me in the moment. Somehow it came and passed quickly, and curiously helped me see the next step in many ways.

I wanted to walk for her, and she ended up walking for me. Isn’t that just like a Grandma!  I think when we remember, honor and love, loved ones are always with us to give something and open to receive what we offer.
