Mirth’s Reflections

Day 120: April 30
In The Year of Living Honestly
In The Quarter of: Education
In The Month of: Amusement

Folding triangle labyrinthAs we come to the end of the month and now a third of the way through the quarter of education , its time for reflections of what was created in the Year of Living Honestly. With three concepts this month, a broader perspective of education utilizing amusement provided discoveries to innovate, create and relate differently.

To innovate means to work with what is already established and develop broader insights and evolutions. The basic forms of the labyrinth; the ways to walk, the methods of sharing, the practice of design, artful redistributions, or our personal experiences all began with an idea and the more we appreciate, educate and amuse ourselves with possibilities, the more we evolve the realm of the labyrinth and its use.

Where innovation is redesign and redeveloping on a current element, to create is to bring into existence something new. Creativity can stem from innovation, though true moments of insight that bring a unique perspective are also examples of truth and development of our honest abilities too. Our third concept of relating mirrors everything of importance in the world, because as humans we relate to everything. How we relate is our great adventure, potential and life process.  When using a little humor in our walk of life or a simple walk of the labyrinth we can find it a happy catalyst of our abilities inspiring our creativity and firing innovation. We respond and relate to our own capacity for creativity and innovation as our body opens and our mind invites curiosity inspired from what amuses.

This month’s journey offered a joyful outlook and inspired creative ideals with thirty opportunities, one in each day to bring out more than we might think we were capable of. In the thirty designs and innovations used this month in this blog, each related to the labyrinth and life with amusement and brought a most insightful and rewarding way to relate to my own honest abilities and inventive process, I hope it was for you as well.

With much in amusement,

On this 120th day…
Reflect in your steps the month of your innovations, Creations and improved Relations with a lighter and brighter more amused outlook.

April's Banner Year of Living Honestly 2018April’s Focus

Let this month unfurl your creativity, spontaneity and jocularity. It feels good to feel good and while we have been conditioned to shush our good times, let the labyrinth be our own private creation station of amusement, enjoyment and playful experiments. This month educate with amusement and see how much farther you get. Have fun and be creative.  We have three opportunities to education your potential with amusement this month that involves either your personal walk, your ability to design and how much you can learn by sharing. On your Mark, Get Set…Go!

  1. Innovate – Walk Amused
In the 30 days that grace this month, play with the way you personally experience the labyrinth. Let this season of education be one of personal bests and enjoy finding a new way to be innovative, creative, inspired and amused in your personal experiences. I’d love to see what you come up with!
    Please share your wonderful experiences!

2. Create – Design Inspired
To date I have created 95 different labyrinth creations and designs since the beginning of the year, let that inspire you to create something new this month that is inspiring and firing for your imagination. Einstein said that playing with ideas was the highest form of research and this is an education for all of us.  As you walk in new ways, share your designs as I have done with mine last year and this. Perfection isn’t what we are after, amusement is! I look forward to seeing what you come up with! I will toss out lots of inspiring ideas… stay tuned daily.
Share away and become a glad designer instead of a mad one!

3. Relate – Share with Care
One of the best ways to learn anything is having to teach or explain it to someone else. Whether you facilitate others, teach or simply share with a few, spend the month discovering amusing new ways to help others get more out of their walk with a lighter attitude and a more earnest enjoyment in what you share. Anything you want to know more about, share and this month share with a fun flair and notice how much more you actually begin to understand. You just might find a side of yourself forgotten. To receive all that, be a great giver.
Share what you discover!

A Whorled World

Day 86: March 27
In The Year of Living Honestly
In The Quarter of: Awareness
In The Month of: Discover

A Whorled WorldStepping into this Spring day in all its icy briskness was a chilling reminder that this was no longer the warmth of the South West and time here would need a layer or two to adapt. However frozen fingers from today’s walk in the park brought attention in the process of warming them to the finger tips and our finger prints. Having designed a different fingerprint labyrinth years ago, this month’s focus on the spiral brings more introspective and something new to appreciate. There is always something new to learn and in this expanse we can discover a moment of honesty with ourselves that is expansive.

In the scope of fingerprints, we have natural spirals in three basic designs, Whorls, tents and loops. Every living being has a unique set of prints, even identical twins.  The majority of us have loops, about 30% have whorls and about 5% have tents or arches. Our finger prints develop in about the 10th week of pregnancy and can adapt their shape based on a variety of factors including the baby’s position, what it touches in utero, nutrition of the mother and the blood pressure and oxygen levels of baby and mother.

If you wanted to create the most unique labyrinth in the world, dip your whorls into a little ink or beet juice and make a fingerprint design. Today’s design is a photograph of a friend’s fingerprint. Blowing it up and following the design it was easy to make a few adjusting arcs and lines to reveal the spiraling labyrinth within. As there are unused portions and a second path discovered, the bounty of this design is in its abundance and instant access. The genius of ourselves is at our fingertips!

A suggestion to walk with:

On this 86th day…
Discover an appreciation of the awareness gained as the lines of your life meet on the lines of the labyrinth, the spiral of insight is yours to enjoy.

March’s Focus

As it is now the third month of the year and our last month of growing awareness before we delve into the ways of education, allow this month be one that creates both the light hearted discovery and profound realization. How can you create more awareness with the labyrinth personally or in the ways you share with others? Where do you notice a spiral effect that takes you to the point or away from it? Be on the lookout for the spiraling nature this month.

  1. Realize
In the 31 Days this month offers, become aware of the daily realizations that you create and discover. Walking daily creates compound interest in what you look forward to and discover each day. Let March become your month of expanded capacity as you walk to make each day and adventure in exploration of what more you can explore. Seek to spiral into new and inspiring realization and whether it is rich and profound or light hearted and amusing… be open, walk with intention and you are bound to come away larger.

2. Surprise
One can realize and find much in the depth of understanding that awareness offers us, though when we look forward to realization of that depth and awareness, it can inspire new ways of appreciation and discovery in both our  process and capabilities as we are constantly growing, no matter what age. Invite the element of  surprise into what you realize as it can lift what you discover into seeing a bit more than before.  Notice the spiral effect of how you move from realize to surprise and make discovery more significant and true.

A Symbol of the Journey

TLS 365 Experience #243
October 29, 2017

I love to create unique personal labyrinths for specific purposes, for inner work. When I start a new path that requires me to grow, that will stretch the boundaries of what I had always imagines possible for me, I will sometimes create a special labyrinth for the journey.

It uses unusual materials. It will have symbolic colors and symbols. It will have the vibration of what I want to create on my new path. It will be small enough to seem manageable, as I want my new project to be. As I create the labyrinth, I immerse myself in the energies that will help me with my goal. I let my intentions guide my creation, and when it is finished, it may not really be finished. I can add to it as I walk it during the project, as I receive illuminations or see new patterns and possibilities.

The labyrinth helps me as I walk it on my journey. It flattens what may initially seem like a steep road. I journal, and the ideas keep coming. When I have reached my goal, the labyrinth is now the symbol of the entire journey, and the road I had walked to get there.

Adventure

TLS 365 Experience #150
July 28, 2017

Today I am headed on a road trip.

I often drive and sometimes across the country. One of the things I like to do is find where the labyrinths are along the way. Sometimes I divert a little farther than I plan, though it is always interesting to meet new labyrinths along the way. They have a story to tell that is unique to the purpose it was built for.

I think of it as a journey and an exploration that is a trip within a trip and where I can plot out its destination on a map, once on the labyrinth… I never know where it can take me.

A Birthday Labyrinth

TLS 365 Experience #86
May 25, 2017

How many consider creating a birthday labyrinth?

I suggested the idea of walking on your birthday and sharing the experience for our collective 365 Experience. Where I have created quite a multitude of playful and meaningful paths over the years, it seems only fitting to celebrate an individual commemorative or purposeful path  for meaningful meander in honoring this annual celebration of life that we engage with in a way that is unique to each.

Next year I will be changing decades, so it seemed an enjoyable idea for a celebration of the nine years I have been in this one. I chose a nine circuit path and reflected on the beginning of this decade and on each path wandered into the next year. What a wonderful review it was and a great way to begin this last lap with a last laugh in all I have waiting for me in the next 365 days!

As if led to this point without mistake, I step into this year with newness. Cleansed intensely by the old, I know this will be a prosperous and joyous year of cultivating creativity and imagination will find its service in and for the world in a most playful and profoundly planetary manner.

Just Different

TLS 365 Experience #42
April 11, 2017

I came upon an interesting path.

Located at the front of the church, it was far enough away from the busy street, though instead of being private and secluded in the back or side, it was right out in front. Thirteen yews encircled it to create a secluded environment, and it was as if the yews served as a large arm of the church protecting this sacred space. Interesting!

The path turned right at the beginning, which was different and reminded me of what a right-handed society we truly live in. The path was also elevated, leaving the borders at ground level…growing more curious.

A unique design, and though it met all the labyrinth specifications, it was just different. The artifacts and icons surrounding it were an interesting mix of yellow roses, religious statuary, modern peace symbols, flags, hearts and whimsically placed as if a guard, A small resin stated of Scooby Doo of cartoon animation.

Nothing wrong or odd, though very different and curious. An unusual creation among the many I’ve visited. Then discovering soon after that this labyrinth had been built by Youth Ministry. Ahhh….understanding. Smile…just different!
