TLS 365 Experience #265
November 20, 2017
The labyrinth at our Health Center had been received with such enthusiasm only a year ago upon its unveiling, and I wondered as I walked it alone, where were the people using it today? There used to be many and I liked when I was with others, it gave me a sense that this was a tool of purpose; even when I didn’t understand it. The more often I walked it, the more I began to fall away from what I thought it was, to what it became for me.
One day in walking, I began to realize where there were many disagreements in our department, and though they do get smoothed over, the realization of how beneficial the labyrinth would be in smoothing over more of them. In fact, if they used this regularly, there just might be less of those disagreements and more time and energy for creative use. Walking further, it dawned, that retention is something we gain by using, understanding and realizing importance and purpose. Maybe if I had stopped walking it, I wouldn’t fully understand what I do now.
By the time I finished my walk, I realized a greater value in what I could offer to re-stimulate the labyrinth by sharing my own discovery of repetitive use. I wrote an article and created a walk for our department. Later I created some walks for the center and then for the community. It was in the walking and practice that I learned how to be of value and purpose for myself and my center too. Do what interests you and share it, then you really add.
